Okay...so I've been watching a lot of Hong Kong made movies lately. Y'know Jackie Chan, John Woo...that kinda martial arts stuff. They're good, some are even great, but I have a few observations about Asian cinema I'd like to share with you.

At the Movies with CoN May 4, 2001, 04:00 EDT

Wong Kar Wai's newest film, starring Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung, is the best film released this year, so far (domestically released in 2000, but in February of this year in North America). It's an absolutely beautiful film about neighbours who find out their spouses are having an affair with each other. They begin to spend time together and eventually fall in love. I really want to do this film justice in my description, but I'm a dummy and have a vocabulary that consists of 495 words.

Let’s be frank. With all the hype, pictures on McDonald’s fries, posters, toys and propaganda, it doesn’t take away from one fact: Episode II is going to blow. To reinforce this, I suggest to everyone to look at the first trailer that came out for Episode II. I hear there is a second, longer one, but I haven’t seen it. I also didn’t make any effort in trying to do so, either.

NARRATOR (VO)
The producers would like to point out that this movie is in no way related to or inspired by the original Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan. It shares neither characters nor setting nor action with the film of that name.
